e received a request from one of our readers to review Sugar bear hair Vitamins as he found many controversial information out there and he couldn’t decide whether to buy it or not.
Before starting our review, I would like to emphasize on the importance of a proper nutrition when trying out any vitamin supplement. A vitamin supplement should never be used as a replacement of a varied healthy nutrition!
So let’s start.
These gummy bears, known as “SugarBearHair Hair Vitamins” were launched in 2016 with a huge promotion which lead to a popularity that few supplements have. On the official website there is a claim that says “The majority of our customers found their nails and skin quality improved over time while taking SugarBearHair.” However, they have no any published study showing that the specific formula in SugarBearHair improves hair or nails.
The dominant ingredient in Sugar Bear Hair is biotin. The daily requirement for biotin (vitamin B7) is just 30 mcg (micro grams) for adults and 25 mcg for 14 to 18 year-old, and nearly everyone gets this and more from the foods they regularly eat. A daily serving (2 gummies) of Sugar Bear Hair is listed as providing 5,000 mcg of biotin — 167 times the adult daily requirement. This would explain the skin rushes we will talk about in the “Con” section
Main Ingredients: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin B-6, Folic Acid, Vitamin B-12, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Iodine, Zinc, Choline, Inositol
About the Company (Trustworthiness)
I couldn’t find any information about the company behind these magical gummy bears. On their official website they have no About Us page, and the only way to contact them is by sending an email to: email@example.com. I don’t see much of a chance to receive any response for any complaint you may want to send to them.
If you consider buying this vitamin, I would recommend buying it from Amazon, and not from the official website, even it is a little more expensive. If you buy from Amazon, at least you can trust Amazon to refund if necessary.
All Those Positive Reviews?!
Companies like Sugar Bear Hair have a very good marketing tactic. They know exactly who their target market is, so when they launch they offer free samples in exchange for some reviews. If you search for “Sugar Bear Hari Vitamin Review” on YouTube you will get more results than iPhone 10 reviews. Every beauty and wellness vlogger reviewed this product, and came up with different results.
Because of this, free sample offer, their official website is FULL of 5 star ratings. It is very suspicious and nearly impossible to have that many positive reviews.
Also, if we check on Amazon, the situation is a little different. Here we have some negative reviews which you definitely need to pay attention to if you want to try this vitamin supplement.
The Health Hub was created to give you quality, unbiased information, so it is important to also check the negative side of every product. Let’s see a couple of negative comments.
“I used these for a month, and my hair and nails did grow, but i had a bad reaction to the biotin levels which gave me cystic acne. People said it was a 50/50 chance and i hoped to be the half not to get the acne. Tastes good but wouldnt order again.. id rather have nice skin and short hair than long hair to hide my bad skin.”
“I was very excited to try this product. I had always here such great reviews about them. They had a great taste, and I did see a difference in the strength of my hair. However, it made my skin breakout like crazy. The bad skin side effect just was not worth the small differences in my hair. I would recommend finding a better product.”
“It made me break out so bad. I stopped taking them and my acne went away and once i tried to take them again i started breaking out!!!”
This product is definitely not perfect, but let’s see what are the pros and cons, to help you make a final decision.
It really helps
It is a vitamin for hair growth and health, and it definitely helps you with that. If you reaaally want a vitamin for your hair, it is worth a shot, but before you buy, read further.
I tried it, just for the taste (Come on, I’m a guy, I don’t need Hair Supplement) and that’s definitely a PASS. Taking a vitamin supplement that also tastes good is delightful 🙂
$30 for a supplement just to have a longer and shinier hair is a little too much in my opinion (Being a guy could mean I’m a little subjective here). If you want to take a supplement for your hair, you should find a multi-vitamin which helps with that also, but it is not manufactured exclusively for that.
I’ll dig in to this, and in the next couple of days I’ll give you a better option to consider buying.
Biotin is the ingredient which mostly helps to achieve the desired hair, but taking biotin also comes with a few risks. It’s number one side effect is skin rush and acne, but also allergic reaction can appear. It is true that taking any supplement with biotin can have this risk, but I’m sure you can find a better supplement for your hair with a smaller price tag.
SugarBearHair’s focus is on taste, good look and being trendy, thus they neglect other, more important factors, like combining the ingredients better, to reduce the risks and side effects and to have a better impact on your overall health.
Sugar Bear Hair Vitamins is missing a lot
If you give $30 for a vitamin supplement you could at least expect it to help you with major vitamin deficits. However, don’t expect these gummies to provide all the vitamins and minerals that are found in a multivitamin/multi-mineral. It does not contain any iron (important to women prone to iron deficiency) or calcium (to support bone growth, particularly in young women). If you need these, there are many good multivitamins that provide all the essential vitamins and minerals and cost as little as 7 cents per day. One of these, plus a biotin supplement, would provide everything in Sugar Bear Hair Vitamins and more at roughly half the price.
As I mentioned before, in the next couple of days I will come with a recommendation that you should take instead of these gummy bears.
Sugar Bear Hair Vitamin
If you are looking to improve your hair Probably SugarBearHair will give you results as it contains a high dosage of Biotin. This also means that there is a chance that you will have side effects like skin rush or acne. If you do like this product, I'm not saying you shouldn't try, but in my opinion you can find a better supplement for half the price.
